Fiction
Strange Heaven, 1998
"Fresh and raw and utterly unselfconscious. A book so entirely without guile and so completely of the earth, it's impossible to read it and wonder if the author isn't beating a whole new path."
Play the Monster Blind, 2000
"Coady's bag of insights is as big as anyone else's, yet her humour will make you clutch your stomach and laugh aloud."
Saints of Big Harbour, 2002
"It is a small-town story of ennui, addiction, failure, cowardice and violence in which we find men behaving badly or self-destructively and women despairingly, apathetically, manipulatively or hysterically. When I picked up the book I braced myself for another bleak round of social pessimism. In fact, I found myself gripped and amused."
Mean Boy, 2003
"Coady's portrayal of the jealous tenuousness of friendship, the in-fighting and fierce competitions of the literary world is daring and brilliant."
